With increasing land values in major cities such as New York and London, engineers are challenged to design super-slender buildings with height-to-width ratios of 20 or more. This presentation will use the 432 Park Avenue tower in New York as a case example to highlight some of the challenges and innovative approaches in the design of such structures.
Kamran Moazami leads the Building Structures group at WSP and will use his wealth of tall building design experience in the UK, US and abroad to focus on the structural implications of super-slender towers.
Ender Ozkan has been involved in the wind engineering aspects of many towers in the UK and abroad, and will describe some of the challenges associated with dynamic wind effects on such structures. The presentation will close with an interactive question-and-answer session.
