The Asia Scotland Institute is delighted to welcome Dr. Jonathan Holslag in Glasgow on the 10th of October. Jonathan is an expert in international politics with a particular interest in China's rise and Europe's relations with Asia.

Jonathan Holslag teaches international politics at the Free University Brussels. His work focuses on political economy regional security in Asia. His latest books, China and India: Prospects for Peace (Columbia University Press, 2010), Trapped Giant (IISS and Routledge, 2011), and China's Coming War with Asia (Polity, 2015) were widely reviewed and translated into different languages.

Jonathan contributed to various study projects organized by European and international institutions. He briefed various European member states, intelligence services, senior officials from China, India, the United States, as well as the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, NATO, the Chiefs of European Navies (CHENS), the EU Political and Security Committee and the UN Human Rights Council.

He also is a Rockefeller Fellow of the Trilateral Commission (2014), was nominated into the World Economic Forum (2012), is a European delegate at CSCAP (2014), was invited as a visiting a fellow of the Nobel Committee (2014), and participated in young leader programmes, including those of South Korea, Japan, and Singapore.
