Event description

Description

In line with our mission to support independent designers around the world to connect, learn, and grow, we are excited to present our newest initiative, jo·network!

What’s jo·network?

It’s an event where we invite our community of designers and creatives to meet each other in real life to connect, listen to engaging talks from creatives who push the limits of their creative industries and beyond and have a laugh.

jo·network #1- How to launch and fund your side project

As an independent designer, innovator and creative, many of us dream of launching our own product, service, platform or initiative one day. Thus for the first jo-network event, we have invited two creatives from our community who have experience in doing exactly that.

Monika Kanokova - Writer, strategist & community builder

Monika Kanokova has written and funded three books about how to succeed as an independent freelancer on Kickstarter. Her latest book “Work Trips & Road Trips: a book for creative freelancers” will be published in May thanks to the community of #smartcreatives, as she calls them. She will share her insights on how to build a community around your Kickstarter campaign to reach your goal.

Sarah Waxman - Designer, co-founder & jovoto creative guide

In a past life, Sarah Waxman was a footwear designer for brands including Reebok and Cole Haan. Today she is co-founder of Matriarch which was launched and funded on Kickstarter in May, a brand whose goal is to disrupt the gender binary system that dominates the fashion marketplace. Sarah will share her insights on how to get people excited enough to want to fund and buy your product before it exists.

The same day also marks the opening of the “Future of Food” exhibition that will be shown in the Betahaus cafe for one month. The exhibition is the result of last years Crowdstorm where we invited creatives, designers, and innovators from all over the world to show how digitalization will impact how and what we eat in the future. The exhibition opens at 18.00 in the Betahaus café. The presentations will start at 19.30 in the Betahaus Loft. Afterward, there will be drinks and networking opportunities!

P.S - In the future, we plan to launch jo·network events in more cities. If you would like to be involved organizing one in your city, please write to community@jovoto.com
