About this event

Our guest speaker Steven Cocker is a traditional Sheffield Cutler. He has worked full time in the industry since leaving school in 2002. Before that he had a Saturday job with Sheffield cutler Trevor Ablett. He says: "I've always had a passion and a thirst for knowledge on my trade and the history, I also love history in general. I've been told I would have fitted in during the Victorian era as I especially enjoy that period."

Steven's talk talk will cover 343 years of highs and lows of Joseph Rodgers and Sons covering the start of a small business to employing thousands of people to produce some of the world's most prized historical knives. Their knives ranged from from the world's largest to the world's smallest for a market which covered the world, supplying Royalty to everyday people. Owning a Rodgers knife became every school boys dream. I will share history and pictures of my 30 years of collecting and researching.
