About this event

High Street Kensington are delighted to be hosting very special YA panel event with three of the most exciting YA authors writing right now. Josh Silver, Tayna Byrne and Nathanael Lessore will be talking about their new books in conversation with Bethany Rutter. Join us for a frank discussion about gender roles and expectations, toxicity and the joy of YA representation.

Josh Silver (Dead Happy) grew up on a farm in the Lake District, before moving to Manchester where he spent his teenage years. He trained as an actor at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and went onto perform in the West End and on Broadway. After deciding to change careers, Josh now works with teenagers as a mental health nurse.

Tanya Byrne (In the Shallows) is an award-winning author and freelance journalist who lives in Brighton. She has written three young adult novels, the first of which earned her a nomination for New Writer of the Year at the National Book Awards. She has also written for The Guardian and The Pool.

Nathanael Lessore (King of Nothing) was born in Camberwell, South East London, as one of eight children to French and Madagascan parents. Although he spent most of his life in Peckham, Nathanael has also lived in Paris, Strasbourg, and Singapore. Hi debut novel Steady For This gave him the opportunity to show his Southeast London childhood as the funny, warm, adventurous world that wasn’t always represented as such.

Bethany Rutter (Big Date Energy) is a writer and podcaster. She writes books about women, bodies and clothes. Her next upcoming novel Slowcoach publishes this June with Hot Key Books – a feel-good body-positive rom com perfect for ages 12+
