Journey to Justice – Hidden stories of Sunderland Launch event
Sun 23 October 2016, 13:30 – 15:30 BST
Journey to Justice aims to inspire and empower local people to take action for social justice through learning about human rights movements and the arts. We are launching the multi-media interactive exhibition in Sunderland this autumn. The exhibition focuses on the US civil rights movement which remains a universal symbol for people who struggle for social and economic justice on every continent and makes links to UK struggles for rights. We will tell hidden stories of some of the less well-known men, women and children involved here in Sunderland who have campaigned for social justice. Our launch includes guest speakers from the University of Sunderland and Director of Education, a local choir and Gemma Hackett School of Dance from Southwick community centre. Book your place ASAP to avoid disappointment. With thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
