Journeying with Hope

You are invited to attend a FREE conference to mark World Social Work Day to promote the theme ‘Journeying with Hope’. The event will be held in Heritage Quay. There will be a variety of presentations as listed below . The event will be of interest to Social Workers and others in aligned professions or indeed anyone who has an interest in the transforming power of Social Work. This event also provides an excellent opportunity for networking with colleagues from the statutory and non statutory sectors.
Programme for the day:
09:15 - 09:40: Arrival and Registration
09:40 – 10:00: Opening address on 'Fostering and Celebrating Hope in Social Work' by University of Huddersfield Professor Brigid Featherstone who has been involved in social work education and research since 1982. She has an international reputation in the areas of gender , fathers and child protection. She recently gave evidence to a Parliamentary Select Committee enquiring into the future of Social Work.
10:00 – 11:15: Siobhan Beckwith and women from the Mothers Living Apart from their Children group from Kirklees/Calderdale WomensCentre will offer their perspectives on the theme of hope.
11:15 - 11:45: coffee break
11:45 – 13:15: A presentation by Serena Johnson and Sophie Simpson from Conscious Youth on 'Breaking down barriers to create communities of hope'
