Journeys through pregnancy and mental health - ESRC Festival of Social Scie...
Mon 7 November 2016, 10:00 – 13:30 GMT
We will be hosting a half-day event in collaboration with ‘CrossReach: Perinatal Service’ and ‘NHS Lothian: A Sense of some Place’ at Walpole Hall, Palmerston Place in Edinburgh. The event will reach out to the general public affected by mental health (e.g., parents, families and carers). Various activities will engage the audience. For example, professionals and non-professionals will give a series of short talks, presentations and use visual media. Experiences of using perinatal and postnatal mental health care will be explored in discussion groups. Access to an online discussion forum will offer space to write about their experiences, and by doing so offering support to each other. The event will also provide a mobile nursery, which will enable parents to attend the event meanwhile having their children looked after by professional child carers. Travel costs for individuals on low-income will be reimbursed.
