J.S. Bach: Johannes-Passion (St John Passion), BWV 245

The Choir of All Saints’, Headington, and an outstanding line-up of young soloists perform Bach’s ever-popular masterpiece narrating Christ’s Passion as related in St John’s Gospel. Composed during Bach’s first year at Leipzig the John Passion was first performed liturgically as part of the Lutheran Vesper Liturgy at the Nikolaikirche on Good Friday of 1724.

This performance is in aid of the All Saint’s Choir. The Choir of All Saints' sings at the two principal Sunday services throughout the year. Comprised of semi-professional Lay Clerks and auditioned volunteers, the Choir performs a wide variety of liturgical music to a very high standard.
