JSUN - BCYC Youth Sailing Sunday Morning - 8 Weeks

The Sunday Morning youth sailing is for BCYC members aged 12+ (beginners, intermediate)
Juniors with expereince will be considered - please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
These half day sessions are for BCYC members aged 12+ , both beginners with no expereience and intermediate sailors.
The emphasis will be time on the water and having fun, while following the youth sailing syllabus for progression of skills.
For experienced sailors - the opportunity to assist with the training and gain an Assistant Instructor Qualification is avaialble - please contact email@example.com
There is no need to attend every weekend, but there will be no refund for days that are missed.
RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 1
For beginners or as a refresher for those returning to dinghy sailing.
The course follows the RYA youth sailing syllabus and aims at developing confidence and competence of the participants while sailing under instruction. Participants will assist with rigging and launching, and have a basic understanding of how a boat sails, and gain expereince of steering and handling.
RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 2
For sailors who have completed stage 1
Participants will gain a range of sailing skills and background knowledge and it will help them become a more confident sailor. They will be able to rig their own boat, tack around, stop and control speed, will learn to capsize and understand the No Go Area
RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 3
For experienced sailors who have completed stage 2 of the RYA Youth sailing scheme
The course follows the RYA youth sailing syllabus and aims at progressing the sailor from beginner to gaining skills to sail in any direction. Participants will learn about the five essentials, Start Racing, and gain expereience with boat handling, the weather and more technical terms like windward and leeward
RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 4
For expereinced sailors who have completed stage 3
Participants will sail double handed boats as a crew and a helm, they will learn about sail controls, be able to correctly rig their on boat, and be a theory wiz - learning about the weather and tides, alongside lots and lots of Knots.
What Do I Need to Go Sailing?
The course provides all equipment needed, wetsuits, bouyancy aid and spray jacket, except you will need to provide shoes that can get wet (training shoes or pumps will do) and a towel.
In the summer, a change of clothes and shorts can be worn - subject to the weather conditions.
You need to be a member of BCYC (along with a paretn or guardian) . Social non sailing membership is avaialble at a reduced price, but your parent/guardian will be expected to help out with the course. Free powerboat training is provied to members.
The course runs from 10:30 and will finish at 13:00
How Much Will it Cost?
The cost is 5 pounds a session 40 pounds for the eight weeks payable in advance. In addition if you would like to purchase an RYA logbook - these can be obtained on the day for £7
