Event description

Description

Judith Silver in concert, with David Hoffman and Duncan Parsons

An opportunity to share some of Judith’s favourite songs, including many of her own compositions and those of her fellow members of the British Jewish composers’ collective Shira Britannia. David Hoffman – a fellow SB member – will join Judith in this concert showcasing the various contemporary styles of Jewish songs and liturgical music covered by the collective, dealing with Jewish texts and themes both sacred and secular. They will be ably accompanied by old friend and local musician Duncan Parsons.

Judith’s songwriting and music are inspirational and a balm for the soul. She is a leading contemporary composer, performer and choir leader. Her Jewish songs are routinely used in worship and at youth camps. The concert will feature material from her new album and songbook, ‘The Time of Singing is Come’

David’s style of Jewish rock music is lively and contemporary, including original music for liturgy and services, as well as songs on Jewish themes. Recommended for fans of blues and rock.

Duncan is a local singer/songwriter, often seen hawking his tunes around various Sheffield open mics and events at The Lantern Theatre, though he is better known as a drummer/percussionist currently with the John Hackett Band
