Event description
A talk by Simon Parke

About this Event

Julian of Norwich, who lived in the 14th century, was the first woman to write a book in English. She was unknown in her day, but there are now 'Julian Groups' all over the world - even in Seaford! Perhaps her most famous quote is, 'All shall be well and all shall be well and all manner of things shall be well.'

The 14th century experienced the plague, violent social uprising, famine and a church interested only in guilt, hell and money-raising. So how was Julian so optimistic amid such tragedy and pain around her?

In this talk, Simon reflects on her life and times...and her unique voice in English history.
