Join independent scholar and psychedelic occultist Julian Vayne for a brief history of drugs in magic; from prehistory to ancient cultures, from medieval grimoires to the modern magical revival and beyond. Join us for a strange trip where we'll encounter Elizabethan angel-bothering high magicians, datura inebriated 18th century showmen and fashionable peyote rituals in 20th century Paris and London, and much more.
Bio.
Julian Vayne is an occultist and psychonaut schooled in the Western Esoteric Tradition, a spiritual lineage rooted in ancient Egypt in which altered states of awareness play a pivotal role.
Julian has taught at universities and published on psychedelics in the academic, alternative and popular press.
He is a co-organizer of Breaking Convention, Europe’s largest psychedelic conference and a founding member of the Transform Drug Policy Foundation.
Julian has been an advisor in licensed medical psychedelic trials, participated as a research subject, and facilitated hundreds of journeys over many decades in a variety of contexts.
