Event description

Description

If any of our fundraising events need to be postponed or cancelled due to COVID-19 Coronavirus, we will, of course, be offering an optional refund. We are doing all we can to keep our fundraising events running as usual within current Government guidelines. The care for local families and children is continuing – they need us now more than ever. Thank you for your support. Take care.

Think BIG. Big routes, big climbs, big vistas… The Big Ride really does live up to its name! Upsize your cycling experience in 2020 and choose a ride that winds its way through some of the finest countryside in Dorset and Wiltshire.

We have a choice of three circular routes – the classic 50 or 100 mile routes and – new for 2020 – a 30 mile option. You’ll follow undulating roads with some challenging climbs, but your reward will be breath-taking panoramas over Salisbury Plain and Cranborne Chase.

All our routes start and finish at Horton and Charlbury Village Hall, a beautiful converted barn near Wimborne with lovely views across the surrounding countryside. It’s the perfect spot for an end-of-ride celebration – there will be a delicious hog roast and a pint of beer waiting for you!

Be a Life Changer: Cycle for us and break the cycle of loneliness for a mum

Young mum Erica found her world shrinking away after her daughter Isabella was diagnosed with chronic lung disease and needed help to breathe. Unable to carry enough of the heavy oxygen cylinders that would keep her daughter safe, Erica and Isabella simply stopped going out and became virtually housebound:

“Because I have to walk everywhere I have to work out how long I have before Isabelle’s oxygen runs out. My world had become so small. I used to see my friends and go out all the time but then I found myself at home on my own with Isabella, never going out.”

Cycle for Julia’s House and open up a world of support and friendship for families…

Registration fees

Sign up before 1st July and save £5:

Fundraise or make a personal donation

We would love our riders to raise a minimum of £200. This could pay for seven hours of care for a child like Isabella, giving her mum the chance to go out and meet friends so she can feel less isolated.

If you would prefer to make a personal donation instead of fundraising you can add this to your registration fee when you sign up.

Remember: Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event but it's the money you raise on top that will make a difference to Julia’s House.

We’re there for you

We really look after our riders – we will be there every step of the journey with personalised support, training tips, on-route refreshment stops and a medal for finishers! Other extras include maps and downloadable GPX files for routes, chip timings, refuel stops with water and snacks and a support vehicle. The routes are fully marshalled and signposted.
