About this event
[The Jump List is a mailing list for the following events]
In winter, the West Highlands of Scotland are often wet and wild. But when good weather and good snow align, the results are truly magical!
Because of these unique climatic conditions, those of us that live here often take an opportunistic approach to planning mountain adventures - staying loose and dreaming big! When a perfect weather-window or a great set of snow conditions presents itself, we're ready to JUMP. Are you?
Good winter trail running is equipment and conditions-dependent. But through the Jump List and partnerships with Petzl, DexShell and Mountain King poles, we're offering you the opportunity to join us for an exclusive and fully-supported winter running experience you'll never forget!
We realise this isn't for everyone and (unfortunately) most people won't be able to get to Scotland at short notice. To find out if the Jump List is for you, have a look at our checklist below:
DO YOU:
- Live within striking distance of the Glencoe/Lochaber area?
- Work flexibly or can take leave at short notice? - including week days
- Trail run10km comfortably?
- Love an adventure and are willing to commit at short notice/with little information?
- Fancy sampling winter trail running at its very best (no experience needed)?
If this is you, read on...
HOW THE JUMP LIST WORKS...
When things are looking 'primo' here in Glencoe, you'll receive an email from us with the subject line JUMP. If you're keen, then it's time to scramble to it!
In other words, sign-up to our Jump List to be notified of exclusive 'pop-up' events, planned in response to weather windows forecast for the coming days. We will give you as much 'heads-up' as possible but it's likely you will only get a couple of days notice (est. 2-7 days).
There's no obligation to join any Jump List events but there will only be 2-6 places available on each (depending on the route), allocated on a first-come-first served basis.
Your JUMP email will outline the details of the (epic) guided run and provide a booking link to purchase your ticket. Once you receive a booking confirmation email then YOU'RE IN!
Each exclusive event is a unique opportunity and will be a single, low-ratio day in the Glencoe/Lochaber area (between Nov 1st 2025 and April 1st 2026). The cost will be £170pp. Any prerequisite skills or experience required will also be detailed in our email (though most events will require no previous experience). So that you know exactly what to bring/wear, we will give you a full kit list, which will not contain any specialist items. Microspikes, headtorch, waterproof socks and running poles with snow baskets will be provided by Girls on Hills as required.
Your guides will be local mountain leaders with mountain rescue experience. Please note that these guided winter runs are not winter skills courses and WILL NOT require the use of axe and crampons. To learn how to travel safely in the high-level winter mountain environment, please see our Winter Skills 101 courses.
This Eventbrite listing is a FREE MAILING-LIST (the Jump List), not a guided event in itself.
Specialist equipment will be provided including headlamp, microspikes, waterproof socks and running poles with snow-baskets.
