About this event
Come and join our Animal Keepers for a day, working with a selection of animals including tortoises, rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, birds, meerkats and more.
Throughout the day you will work in our arid and tropical biomes, domestic pet area and farm.
Activities will include feeding, watering, and maintaining the enclosures. This day is perfect for any animal lover who would like a chance to work with a wide variety of animals and learn more about them.
- Places MUST be booked in advance – (maximum of 12 people per day). Bookings are taken on a first come first serve basis,

All visitors are required to wear appropriate footwear whilst visiting the farm, this means closed toed shoes, trainers, wellies, or similar. No open toed sandals, flipflops or crocs are allowed on the farm.
Frequently asked questions
The Junior Keepers will join the Animal Keeping staff for the day looking after our amazing animal collection in the Animal Centre. They will work in various animal areas including the desert biome, tropical biome, husbandry room, domestic area, meerkat enclosure and the farm.
The event starts at 10:00am and finishes at 15:00pm. Parent drop off is 9:45am and parent collection at 15:00pm.
Payment will be taken via Eventbrite it is £70 but there is Eventbrite Fees to pay.
The Junior Keeper days are just for children, there is no provision for parents to stay. If you are looking for a family activity, then head over to our Animal Encounters Tour page which is available to anyone who is five years and over.
Two Animal Keepers will be present during the event (including breaks and lunch) and will be supervising the children around the different enclosures.
You will need to bring suitable outdoor clothing (especially if it is wet) and sturdy boots if you have them (walking boots or wellingtons are acceptable) strictly NO open-toed sandals or flip flops. Please wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty. No jewellery is allowed
Please bring a water bottle, a packed lunch (no nuts), suitable clothing and any medication that they need to have on them .In the summer months sun cream and hats must also be brought and applied. Please note that we are not liable for any personal belongings that are brought along on the day.
Yes pictures are allowed during the event, however we ask that the flash is turned off when taking pictures of the animals. Participants are liable for any possessions they bring to take pictures. We ask you to only take pictures of the animals and not other participant who are there on the day

Yes, Nuts are in the animal food, if you or your child has an allergy please tell the member of staff you are emailing, and we will ensure there are no nuts in the rooms on the day.
