Make a Splash This Summer – Learn to Row with Lea Rowing Club!

    Why Rowing?

Rowing is an excellent way to boost your fitness, build strength, and develop coordination. It’s also a fantastic way to spend time outdoors and relieve stress.

    What You’ll Get:

    - Expert Coaching: Learn from our experienced and friendly instructors.

    - Team Spirit: Make new friends and enjoy the camaraderie of rowing as part of a team.

    - Skill Development: Master the basics of rowing: how to carry a boat, how to correctly use a rowing machine, the rowing stroke in a single and crew boats.

    - Fun & Fitness: Enjoy a full-body workout in a fun and engaging environment.

    - Beautiful Setting: Experience rowing on the serene waters of the River Lea.

Each session will start with a warm up on the rowing machines before going out on the water.

All participants must be able to swim – The use of buoyancy aids are mandatory and we do not anticipate you needing this skill however we need to know they can in case of an emergency that you'll be able to swim to a boat and hold onto it until rescue. We'll be teaching you how to scull (rowing with two oars). Please let us know if you have any special requirements.

We have had a lot of interest in these camps and only a finite number of spaces, so please book as soon as possible.

    Cancellations & Rescheduling

It is possible a course or a session may need to be cancelled or rescheduled. Examples include:

    • Weather: If lightning or excessively high wind speeds are forecast, making it dangerous to be on the water, we will be indoors.

In any such eventualities we will communicate directly to arrange rescheduling or refunds, or you can contact us via your eventbrite booking.

    • Refunds: We do not offer refunds.

    Frequently asked questions

What does my child need to wear during the sessions?

We suggest gym wear that is not baggy. For water sessions, please ensure no jumpers or tracksuit bottoms are worn. In the rare event of a capsize, these will become water logged which can be dangerous.

Will my child be rowing for the entire two hours?

No. We aim to spend as much time on the water as possible however warming up and cooling down and time to set up the boats is included in this time.

Will my child have to swim on the course?

Your child won't be swim tested but in the highly unlikely event of a capsize they will need to be confident enough in water to swim back to the bank or get back in the boat (with the assistance of a life vest). It is therefore necessary to have a full change of clothes.

I can't afford it. Do you offer bursaries or can you subside the cost?

Absolutely. We would hate for cost to be a limiting factor for your child getting on the water, please email jamila.sinclair@learc.org.uk with information about your circumstances so we can apply for a bursary or subsidized cost on your behalf. This offer is limited per course.
