Event description

Description

Dinosaurs are coming to Cineworld NEC at Resorts World Birmingham in a special theatre performance - and it`s all in the name of charity.

Young performers from the Pauline Quirke Academy are set to perform Jurassic Jeffrey - A Tale of Dinosaurs in Birmingham at Resorts World Birmingham on Sunday 22nd April for charity. The cast will be donning their finest Medieval gladrags to bring a fun and engaging play to Resorts World following a sell-out debut performance at Bantock House for the Wolverhampton Literature Festival.

Members of the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts got the bellies rolling with laughter when they performed Jurassic Jeffrey at the Wolverhampton Literature Festival and now it is the turn of Birmingham to enjoy their antics on stage.

In the style of strolling Medieval players the audience will meet Jurassic Jeffrey and his pals in a feel-good play packed with jokes and fun. "You could say it`s about diversity and inclusion", said Principal of the Wolverhampton Academy Julian Elcock "because when the audience meet the gang they recognise the things that make them different and discover that friendship is what binds them together. It is a fun introduction to theatre".

Also showcased on 22nd April will be other work by the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts including a trailer for a new film and another production they are preparing for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Jurassic Jeffrey was written by award-winning poet, playwright and Birmingham solicitor Ian Henery. Originally entitled Jurassic Jeffrey - A Tale of Dinosaurs in Wolverhampton, the play has been re-written and adapted for Birmingham. "I am excited to stage the performance of the new play in the state of the art venue Cineworld NEC at Resorts World Birmingham for the Pauline Quirke Academy to bring it to life", said Ian Henery. "Many thanks for the support from Cineworld NEC and Resorts World Birmingham. Every penny we raise goes to local worthy causes in the name of charity".
