Just Eat It! // Kitchen takeover and film at Sheaf Street Cafeteria
Thu 23 March 2017, 18:00 – 22:00 GMT
Just Eat It! screening and discussion at Sheaf Street Cafeteria.
Filmmakers and food lovers Jen and Grant dive into the issue of food waste from farm, through retail, all the way to the back of their own fridge.
After catching a glimpse of the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America, they pledge to quit grocery shopping cold turkey and survive only on foods that has been discarded. In a nation where one in ten people is food insecure, the images they capture of squandered groceries are both shocking and strangely compelling.
Arrive early (6pm onwards) and enjoy short films and free food provided by The Real Junk Food Project!
The film starts at 8pm.
The screening will be followed by a discussion, led by members of the Real Junk Food Project and the disrUPt! project at Leeds Beckett University.
Sheaf St Cafeteria is a collaboration between Duke Studios and The Grub and Grog shop.
