Justin Newland
Description: Local author Justin Newland explores England's coming of age during the Elizabethan era, when the nation shed its self-view as a small, misty isle on the edge of continental Europe to become the hub of a new world of trade and communication.
Find out how Sir Francis Drake's circumnavigation expanded England's narrow outlook, changing the course of both the nation's history and of world history.
This talk is based on Justin's research for his novel, The Mark of the Salamander, the first in a two book series. The second novel, The Midnight of Eights, culminates in the repulse of the Spanish Armada.
Signed copies of the books will be available for purchase. (Cash or card payments)
