Event details:

Join us for the Short-film Premiere of 'The Keeper' - followed by a talk from the creators and a Q&A session.

'The Keeper' project is a collaboration between contemporary dance and comedy.

It's born out of the desire to create work touching on mental health issues and depression, to raise awareness and reduce the stigma around the topic - specifically in men.

This filmed creative piece is a poignant duet, where one actor and one dancer give life to funny and relatable characters through comedy and dance, while underlying some darker societal problems.

BIOGS:

Sandrine Monin

Sandrine Monin is an artist who empowers and connects people, through dance and storytelling. Her work, like her extensive professional experience, is at an interesting crossroad of classical, physical theatre and contemporary genres.

Her choreographic signature marries powerful physicality, sophisticated technique and poetical sensibility. It explores the complexity of human emotions, and through the body, turns them into collective shared experience. Dance as a channel for deeper connections.

"My aspiration is to explore the complexity of human emotions and through the body, turn them into collective shared experience." - Sandrine Monin

Paul Dunphy

Mr Paul Dunphy is an Edinburgh Comedy Award-nominated actor/writer, trained at Bretton Hall, near Wakefield. He has popped up on The Couple Next Door for Channel 4/Starz, The Syndicate by Kay Mellor on BBC One and on The Emily Atack Show for ITV, and The Moonflower Murders BBC One/PBS Masterpiece. He has also featured in commercials for Paddy Power, Trivago and Suzuki (alongside Ant & Dec).

Dunphy is in a comedy writing/performing partnership with his bestest bud, Larry Budd! Together (as Larry & Paul) they started out hosting radio shows, and now they produce comedy sketches that have won them a Royal Television Society award, have been featured by BBC Comedy, BBC One, BBC Radio 5 Live, have racked up over 25 million views online and their work has also been selected by the BFI for permanent preservation.
