K-Club invite Manchester female entrepreneurs and professionals to an exclusive lunchtime event, kindly hosted by HSBC.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and in support of Manchester-based charity Prevent Breast Cancer (formerly Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention), we invite you to join us to network over a buffet lunch and to hear from our informed and enthused speakers; Lindsay Occleston and Dr Michelle Harvie.
In 2008 Lindsay Occleston discovered a lump in her right breast, and subsequently underwent a course of treatment which was exhausting and traumatic for both her and her family.
“After battling breast cancer, I felt determined to make a difference to the lives of other women– that’s where Genesis came in. As a mother, the charity’s unique vision resonated with me as I felt strongly about helping to prevent the disease for my children and their children."
A Director at Roberts Bakery, Linsday launched 'Lindsay's Pledge' together with the bakery, to raise £50,000 for vital gene research.
Lindsay took advice from Dr Michelle Harvie, research dietitian at Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention, who co-authored The 2-Day Diet – the original 5:2 eating plan.
For the last 22 years Dr Michelle Harvie has specialised in optimum diet and exercise strategies for weight loss and preventing breast cancer and its recurrence. Her findings have been published in many major scientific journals.
She was a nominee for UK Women of the Year award, 2009, and Manchester Health Woman of the year 2007, and published the Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Diet (Rodale 2006).
Our chosen charity who will benefit from a donation from this event is Prevent Breast Cancer (formerly Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention) and they are the only UK charity funding ground-breaking research solely aimed at preventing breast cancer for future generations.
Their research will one day bring about a world where breast cancer is preventable and thousands of lives are saved from ever experiencing this terrible disease.
Registered charity No:1109839
A donation of 25% of the entry fees received will be made to Prevent Breast Cancer.
Please arrive from 12noon, when a finger buffet lunch will be served before we hear from our speaker at 12.30pm. A Q&A session will follow before we end at 2pm.
