Cinematic layers of synth, ethereal vocals sung in their native tongue, spine chilling screams, driving bass and programmed drums combine to pull the listener deep into Kælan Mikla’s world a place of folklore and fairytales, magic and mysticism

Growing up around the capital region of Iceland, the members of brooding post-punk trio Kælan Mikla were raised with warnings of elves in the wilderness waiting to kidnap them, and mermaids swimming within the seas that encircled the island.

The band have enchanted fans all over the world, including The Cure’s Robert Smith who has asked Kælan Mikla to play several of the festivals he has personally curated.

"Mirroring the frozen, sacred landscapes of their home in Iceland, Kaelan Mikla are simultaneously bewitching and brutal"

Metal Hammer

"Their incredibly well-executed post-punk witchcraft is as beautiful as it is mysterious, nodding to everything from Depeche Mode to the Cure (Robert Smith is a fan)."

Revolver Mag

"Their rawness and charisma are enough to convert the staunchest non-believer in their direction."

FACTmag

"The three witches from Macbeth [with] Poly Styrene punk and Diamanda Galas shrieks."
