Description

Booking for students, staff and school parties - general public £10 bookable at http://bit.ly/2s7xm6O

Kathakali is a combination of two words – katha (story) and kali (play). It is an ancient form of stylised dance-drama that recounts sacred stories about the Hindu deities (gods and goddesses).

We are delighted to host the Kala Chetana Kathakali Company as part of their 2017 national tour. This distinguished company offers a rare chance the experience a visually stimulating ancient art form, which originated in the temples of Kerala (south west India) hundreds of years ago. Characters with stunning make-up and elaborate costumes re-enact stories from the epic story texts, Mahabharata or Ramayana.
