Event description
KALC is pleased to launch its Annual Planning Conference on Friday 13 March 2020

About this Event

Here is our latest programme as of 31 January 2020. This may be subject to minor change before the event:

The KALC Planning Conference 2020 will include a series of papers of interest to all Local Councils and will include several sessions and updates on recent developments in planning with a focus on infrastructure and housing. The Chairman will offer an overview of strategic challenges for our tier as planning legislation again remains centre stage in our tier. The first part of the day will be focused around a variety of presentations which will look at strategic developments (including the wider housing debate and impact on Kent) and the challenges for Local Councils. In addition, we will have a session looking at recent developments in planning including legislation, case law and best practice from the perspective of our tier. Local Councils often find working with developers challenging and so we will also have the benefit of the input from a professional developer. Along with several trade stands and additional surgeries by the Association’s Adviser there will be something of relevance whether you are a planning committee member, officer or just a councillor with a general interest in this vital area for Local Councils!

This year will include formal planning training. We are delighted that Lindsay Frost the KALC Planning Consultant will once again be presenting P101 and P111 our foundation courses for Local Councils on planning development control. Sadly, this will be Lindsay’s last presentation as he retires as KALC’s Planning Consultant! We are sure that delegates will join with all our members in thanking Lindsay for all his support, professional input and for developing three excellent courses for KALC over the last 5 years. Lindsay will be greatly missed!
