About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Karesta Women’s Circle is a place to benefit from our collective wisdom, intuition and perspectives. Join host Becky Burchell to tend the complex fires of your personal, family and professional lives, within a circle of support from other women.

Every gathering will be unique, but the circles will follow a familiar rhythm each time we meet:

OPENING - Greetings, herbal smells, foraged tea, getting comfy

CONNECTING - Sharing: what is alive for us in this moment?

GROUNDING - Meditation, movement, touch or vocalisations

DEEPENING - Musings on a theme; to listen and be heard

INTEGRATING - Reflections, a closing song, pulling cards

A different theme is is explored at each circle, to allow space for our own unique experiences, needs, values, hopes and fears to be honoured. This is also an opportunity for us all to listen deeply to others and draw strength, solidarity and knowledge from the collective.

At each circle, Becky brings in gifts from the Chettle land to uplift and inspire us, including wild flowers and herbs to smell, foraged teas to taste and chunky flints that we hold to ground us when we are speaking. We are gently exploring the many ways we can deepen our relationships with and discover support from the more-than-human beings and elements that surround us.

WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID

"Karesta Women's Circle meets a need I couldn't articulate before I started attending. A need to make time for myself to step outside my day-to-day, to explore my perceptions, and to make slow connections. I was nervous the first time and worried about what I could say or how uncomfortable or frustrated with myself I would feel if I didnt say anything. Since then, I have learnt to trust that what needs to be said, will be said. We hold space for each other to speak and no one is looking to give or recieve advice. It's cathartic to be able to finish my thoughts without fear of interruption (no matter how well meant) and illuminating to listen to others without being distracted by a need to respond." Participant.

"Becky holds the space in a way that allows boundaries to be explored both personally, and within the circle, whilst feeling secure in my own autonomy. A lot of laughter, and tears; wonderful visualisations which take me deep into my own self, music which opens my heart to the moment. Most of all, a meeting of fellow women to share, to hold and to be held ..." Participant.

Frequently asked questions

I am shy speaking in groups, is this women's circle for me?

Shyness is welcome and there is no obligation to speak, although we hope with time and practice that you will feel more comfortable in sharing. One of the most important elements of this women's circle is offering deep listening to each other, so just being present is a valid contribution.

How often do these circles take place and do I have to attend every one?

The circles will happen fortnightly on a Tuesday night 8pm - 10pm. We have a regular community of women attending these gatherings, but there is no obligation to attend each event. You are welcome to come on an occassional basis as and when you need to.

Will what we discuss remain confidential?

We are inviting all the women taking part to share openly and honestly and therefore it is essential that confidentiality is respected by everyone who attends.

What does 'Karesta' mean?

'Karesta' is a proto-celtic word that means 'kinswomen'. It is featured in Carolyn Hillyier's book 'Her Bone Bundle', a collection of re-imagined words in the celtic ancestoral mother tongue.
