Karl Marx: Greatness and Illusion book launch
To celebrate the publication of the important new biography Karl Marx: Greatness and Illusion (Allen Lane) by Professor Gareth Stedman Jones, the School of History, Queen Mary, is hosting debate between Professor Stedman Jones and Dr Tristram Hunt MP author of a recent biography of Friedrich Engels.
Professor Gareth Stedman Jones is Professor of the History of Ideas at Queen Mary University of London. He is the author of Outcast London, Languages of Class and An End to Poverty? as well as being the editor of the Penguin Classics edition of The Communist Manifesto.
Dr Tristram Hunt MP lectures in Modern British History in the School of History, Queen Mary University of London. As well as his recent biography of Engels, Dr Hunt is the author of Building Jerusalem: the Rise and Fall of the Victorian City, and Ten Cities that made an Empire.
The event will be followed by a reception to which all attendees are invited.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
The closest tube station to the Arts 2 Building is Mile End (Central,District and Hammersmith and City lines). Please note that there is no access to Arts 2 from Mile End Road. Please use Westfield Way (the East Gate) and look for the Novo Burial Ground.
