Who can use PSC Katakanus?
All PSC members can make use of our Katakanus, but there should always be an adult PSC member on board.
Best paddled by four, they can be used with just two or three on board and if some of the paddlers are lighter you can carry a maxium of six.
Safety Protocols - please read these carefully before you book a Katakanu.
- The boats are stored upside down. At least two adults should be involved in turning them over; please take care when doing this.
- A buoyancy aid must we worn by everyone on board.
- ‘Wet shoes’ or similar should be worn.
- Be aware that offshore winds may make it difficult to paddle home.
- Please remember that we are not allowed to swim in our lake - the Katakanu should not be used as a swim platform!
- Observe the 20m exclusion zone around the lake, i.e. stay at least 20m away from the bank and from the island.
- You should only launch and land inside our compound, i.e. you should not leave the lake.
- Be aware of other water users and paddle considerately.
