This reading celebrates the publication of a Festschrift for Katherine Gallagher, featuring contributions from more than 80 poets and friends from the UK, continental Europe and Australia.
Katherine Gallagher is a much-loved Australian poet living in London, whose poetry, translation, teaching and tireless work on the poetry scene inspired this anthology.
She is a truly international presence, frequently reading in the UK, France and Australia, with poems published in French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Romanian and Serbian. The most recent of her 10 published collections is the New and Selected poems, Carnival Edge (Arc 2009.)
Contributors to the Festschrift anthology sent messages including:
“She is a subtle and brilliant poet whose warmth, integrity and passionate commitment to her craft have been truly inspirational.”
“She not only inspires and encourages, while modestly making barely any mention of her own achievements, but has a rare generosity of spirit that brings great loyalty, harmony and affection.”
“She is my hero.”
This celebratory evening includes readings from the Festschrift by more than 20 of the contributors, plus some poems from Katherine herself.
