About this Event

Christology and Sacrifice: The Gift of a Generous God

What does the sacrifice of Christ on the cross tell us about Jesus and the nature of God? Sacrifice is a term with a troubled history in theology, but is central to the anchors of a generous orthodoxy: Trinity and Christology. This lecture will show how the sacrifice of Christ both reveals his identity as the divine Son and is vital for a deeper understanding the nature of God as Trinity.

The Rev Katherine Sonderegger, Ph.D., is the William Meade Chair in Systematic Theology at Virginia Theological Seminary. Her areas of expertise include systematic theology, Barth, medieval studies, feminist studies, and reformed theology. She is author of Systematic Theology, Vol 1 (Fortress Press, 2015).
