About this event

Vintners' Hall is a magnificent, historic building. The Vintners' Company, with its first Charter in 1363, is one of the Twelve Great Livery Companies of the City of London. With its origins steeped in the history of the City of London and the import, regulation and sale of wine, it is known as the wine trade's ‘spiritual home’.

The Livery Hall, where the Dinner will be held, was built in 1671. It still retains much of its original carving along with an historic collection of pictures. It is an elegant setting in which you will enjoy a memorable dining experience catered by Searcys.

This year our Annual Dinner will for the first time incorporate a re-enactment of the duel fought between the Duke of Wellington and the Earl of Winchelsea over the right of King’s to select the best applicants irrespective of their religion. The duel was fought on 21 March 1829. King’s alumni all over the world gather for social occasions close to this date to commemorate Wellington’s role in the founding of the College.

Ms Jo Brand, the well-known comedian, writer and actor, a Fellow of King's, will be our after dinner speaker ensuring the evening is brought to a memorable close with her special brand of humour.

Tickets for the black tie Dinner cost £95, which is subsidised to celebrate our first social event for 2½ years. Numbers are strictly limited and available on a first-come first-served basis. I do hope you will join us
