This talk will highlight the often overlooked problem of ambiguity in spoken mathematics, providing examples of how an incorrect presentation of mathematical formulas and expressions can create a barrier between the student with low or no sight and the subject. After identifying the major factors that contribute to a wrong verbalization of mathematics, a solution will be presented in MathSpeak, a set of best practice guidelines to erase every form of ambiguity in the mathematics spoken in the classroom. The key principles of this system will be presented, together with a brief summary of the scientific evidence of its impressive positive impact.
