Keep Your Marbles: Art and Creativity: Journalling

Are you ready to discover yourself?

Are you ready to go to the root of your patterns?

Are you ready for a greater and deeper understanding of yourself?

Join us on Sunday 25 January 2026 at 7pm-8:30pm GMT/UK time, for a cathartic and deeply reflective online shadow journalling session using shadow prompts. You'll be guided to explore the hidden parts of yourself that often go unnoticed, but shape so much of your life.

Shadow journalling is a specific, introspective writing practice designed to explore and integrate your "Shadow Self." The term "Shadow," popularised by psychiatrist Carl Jung, refers to the parts of our personality that we unconsciously repress, deny, or disown - often because they are deemed unacceptable by our conscious mind, family, or society.

Shadow journalling is the deliberate practice of turning a kind and curious light on what you normally avoid in yourself. It’s not about self-condemnation; it’s about honest self-discovery and reclamation.

We at Keep Your Marbles believe in going to the root of why we do things so we are empowered to break our negative and destructive cycles of behaviour. Shadow journalling is a fantastic and effective way to do so. Most of our reactive behaviour’s (e.g. sudden anger, intense judgments, inexplicable fears) are shadow material surfacing. By journalling, you trace these reactions back to their source.

When you bring unconscious patterns (like "I don't deserve success" or "I must please everyone") into conscious awareness through writing, you can finally challenge and change them. You stop undermining your own goals, relationships, and quality of life.

As Jung said, "Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves." Shadow journalling helps you ask: "What does this person mirror back to me that I refuse to see in myself?"

This is a safe and supportive space to dig deep, uncover those emotions, fears, or habits that you might usually push aside, and discover what they’re really trying to tell you.

Whether you're new to journalling or experienced, this session will be an opportunity to tap into deeper layers of your psyche and reflect on how to embrace your full self. It’s not about "fixing" anything but about understanding and integrating these aspects with compassion. You’ll leave the session feeling lighter and more connected to yourself.
