About this event
Entrust invites all Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) to join us for this free ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022’ webinar session focusing on online safeguarding elements. This webinar explores the new and updated content relevant to online safeguarding within KCSiE 2022. A summary of key online safety requirements and changes will be discussed.
Technology continues to play a key role within a young person's life and therefore can be the vehicle for child-on-child abuse concerns. From the relatively significant changes to the online safety section within Part 2 of last year’s 2021 KCSiE document, schools and colleges should now have effectively embedded online safety into their whole school/college approach through policies, procedures, and an inclusive and preventative curriculum. The DSL continues to have overall responsibility for online safety but should be supported by Governors. KCSiE 2022 includes additional considerations linked to online safeguarding which schools/colleges need to be aware of and include within their whole school approach.
Sexual violence and sexual harassment between children in school and colleges standalone advice has been withdrawn and removed. This guidance has now been incorporated throughout KCSIE 2022, and especially in part two and part five, in order to give the issue the prominence it deserves in statutory guidance. How does your school/college include the use of technology by children for child-on-child abuse concerns in policy and procedures that you follow?
