Event description
KEF perspective focus groups to inform the 2021 KEF review.

About this event

Research England are currently undertaking a review of the first iteration of the KEF.

Feedback from participating institutions and other users of the KEF is a vital element of our review process. We are collecting high level feedback via an online survey which is open until late July.

We would now like to invite expressions of interest to participate in deep dive focus groups which will use small group discussion to feedback on the individual perspectives and metrics presented through the KEF. These discussions will be informed by, and build upon the high level feedback obtained from the online survey.

We will be hosting the following six virtual events:

  1. Local growth & regeneration (shorter session focused on the single metric rather than the narrative) - Thursday 26 August 2021
  2. IP & commercialisation - Wednesday 1 September 2021
  3. Research Partnerships - Monday 6 September 2021
  4. Skills enterprise & entrepreneurship - Tuesday 14 September 2021
  5. Public & Community Engagement (co-delivered with NCCPE) - Tuesday 21 September 2021
  6. Working with business AND Working with the public sector (this extended joint session will explore the shared metrics of both perspectives) - Wednesday 29 September 2021

NB: All sessions will be held virtually using Zoom.

Attendance numbers

In order to facilitate depth and small group discussions, attendance at each event will be limited to circa 20 individuals, representing a broad range of institutions, clusters and where relevant other users.

You are welcome to express an interest in attending more than one session, however with the limited numbers, we are unlikely to invite the same individual to attend more than one session, or for one provider to be represented by more than one person at an event. Therefore, if you have a strong preference for a particular session, please make this clear in your registration information.

Timings

The exact timing of each session will be confirmed in the invitations to attend, however please note that they will most likely be held between 2.00pm and 5.00pm of the date given. With a longer session held for the joint Working with business AND Working with the public sector discussion on Wednesday 29 September.

Invitations to attend

Registration of expressions of interest will close on 31 July 2021. We will notify all individuals whether they have been invited to attend a requested session no later than Thursday 19 August as follows:

  • Successful - we would like to invite you to attend a focus group and detailed event information will be emailed to you directly by the KEF team approximately one week prior to session you have been invited to attend.
  • Waitlisted - we have been unable to include you in a session at the moment, however you have been placed on a waiting list. Should a place become available the KEF team will email you with full details to invite you to attend.
  • Unsuccessful - we have been unable to include you in the requested focus group(s) on this occasion.
