The oldest towers of Kellie Castle date back to the 14th century, but the whole interior was overhauled in the late 19th century by the Lorimers, a famous artistic family.

The tour of the castle lasts approximately 1 hour. Your guide will give you a brief introduction to the history of the castle.

You'll then step inside to be welcomed by the grand stone entrance staircase. The T-shaped structure of Kellie Castle originally started as a single tower house and has undergone centuries of additions and remodelling; it now consists of three towers, all from different dates, with an adjoining central section.

This layout will come to life as you'll see rooms including the drawing room, dining room, library, Earl's room and the children's nursery.

During the tour you can admire the majestic ceiling in the library - one of the oldest ornamental plaster ceilings in Scotland; the fabulous plasterwork ceiling of the Vine Room and many other wonderful aspects of the castle.

You'll also hear stories relating to the people and families who have shaped Kellie over the years.

We do offer discounted rates for children, those with Young Scot cards and concessions (60+) plus group rates for families. Please email kelliecastle@nts.org.uk to reserve spaces on the tours of your choice.

On Sundays between 1pm & 4pm we offer Open Guiding, where you can go round the castle at your own pace and we have guides stationed around the castle to share the history of the property and offer any assistance needed. You do not need to book in advance for Open Guiding. Last entry to the Castle is 3:15pm.

Please arrive at the property 15 minutes before the start of your tour and head to our Welcome Desk to collect your tour tickets. If you have booked a ticket at our members rate, please have your membership card handy.
