Freelancer Day: When?
Kendal's next Freelancer Day event will be held on Thursday 29th September 2016. Doors open at 10.30am until 4pm .......bring your computer, work and coffee cup and join us.
The Freelancer Day is part of the Wired Cumbria programme of events aimed at support freelance and small business across Cumbria
We are very pleased to be working with Space2Create, The Factory, who have made space available for freelancers to work, exchange and meet.....
What is a Freelancer Day?
The Freelancer Days have been organized by group of freelancers at part of WiredCumbria. They have made available a shared space for other freelancers to work on their own projects; collaborate with others and/or meet with their clients over coffee in an informal area.
The event is looking to build on the Jelly events – where freelancers can work informally and collaborate with others. We are particularly looking to attract freelancers, co-workers and other small businesses who are often home based, to share the space. Importantly, there is space to bring your laptop; as well as the opportunity to develop new working relations; chat and collaborate with other small business owners..
This event is open to freelancers and small businesses from any business sector…..the more the merrier!
Please note: for those sales oriented networkers - this is not a network event or place to push your business card … it is a place to work, collaborate and enjoy talking and listening to fellow freelancers / small business owners.
How did Jelly evolve?
Jelly was established in 2006, when two New York freelancers were talking about a major drawback of working alone; namely the lack of company. They decided to invite a group of freelancers to bring their laptops and work together in their apartment for the day, and called it Jelly as they were eating Jelly beans at the time!
Kendal Freelancer Day will provide the space, tables, chairs, wifi, tea and coffee - you just bring your laptop. We ask that you book a place so that we can arrange you a space: a desk and connection for you as well as a spare mug for your coffee / tea. Please remember to bring your lunch box.
Space 2 Create:
Space2Create is a great community space designed to helps vulnerable adults with long term physical and mental health conditions to recover their wellbeing through creative activity. They also act as host to a number of community groups and other important activies within the Kendal area.
