Synopsis: How the state of play is now, nine months on from GDPR going Live and of course the subsequent Data Protection Act 2018. This will include business attitudes and the problems still being faced by businesses.
This is a joint presentation. The introduction will be given by Mark Foulsham and Andrew Denley will present the slides and Brian Hitchen will take questions from the floor.
Mark is a highly experienced business leader and former Chief Information Officer for eSure Ltd. Andrew specialises in Information Security Strategy and Information Risk and Brian is a highly experienced security forensic specialist.
All are GDPR specialists (Brian and Andrew are certified Practitioners) and, collectively, have a new book on Achieving and Maintaining GDPR, due for world-wide publication in January 2019. Speakers:
Andrew Denley has thirty-five years' experience in sectors covering Research, Intelligence, Government and Commerce. He has worked in technology for all of his career, seamlessly moving into IT from Data Communications with the advent of workplace computers and then into Information Security as the use of the Internet expanded. Passionate about Information Risk and Security, he has continuously championed these "necessary evils" as business enablers believing that they sit firmly within the business, rather than IT, function.
Mark Foulsham is an industry-prominent CDO/CIO/NED with 25 years Business, IT and Digital experience across various sectors. He has strong experience in cross-functional leadership, digital start-ups, early growth, M&As, IPOs and MBOs. His approach is one that starts with absolute focus on customers' needs, and ends with ensuring results comprehensively measure up to desired outcomes. Brian Hitchen worked in IT from 1970 until 2014. He spent the last 30 years working as IT Security Manager for a number of financial services organisations. In 1995, he installed a Cyber Forensics facility as part of his security role; this was one of the first to be used in the commercial sector in the UK. Since then he has investigated several high value financial crimes. In 2014 he retired from full-time work and has since been researching Cyber Crime and the impact that it has on small to medium businesses. He has co-written "GDPR - Guiding your business to compliance", "Disaster Avoidance" and "Hacked!", all available from Amazon. He has written a series of reports for the House of Lords while the Investigatory Powers Bill was being reviewed.
