About this Event

Make Money From Your Passion

What if you could start your own business, but you didn't know how?

What if you could make money doing what you love?

If that sounds like you, then the PopUp Business School wants to meet you.

From Monday 26th Oct, the PopUp team will be running a free business course to help new and established businesses get going and to kick-start your business the right way. The intensive 5-day course is being run online. All sessions are completely free, but places are limited, so booking upfront is essential.

We will help you to get your ideas off the ground thanks to our partners, Increase Valorisation Sociale.

Come along, spend with us and learn:

  • Start a Business with No Money
  • Build a Website for Free
  • Get to the Top of Google
  • How to Find Customers on Social Media
  • Get the Confidence to Start
  • Tax, Company Setup and The Legal Stuff

Find the full Schedule that covers every aspect of starting, owning and running a business at

As well as the Workshops, PopUp also provides one to one support wherever possible and continuing online support to all participants after the event itself.

This is a one-off opportunity to get expert help to bring your business ideas to life.

Frustrated by the traditional approach to starting up, co-founders Alan Donegan and Simon Paine decided to challenge the system when they set up seven years ago. Forget suits, ties and briefcases. PopUp Business School is all about offering big opportunities to every member of society, from lone parents to the unemployed, people with disabilities, ex-offenders and other disadvantaged members of the community.

PopUp Business School is the polar opposite of tired approaches to enterprise support. Rather than preach the importance of business plans, company structures and loan funding, Donegan and Paine turn this model on its head to achieve far greater results.

We cannot wait to meet you!

The programme

The £8.6 million cross-Channel programme, called Increase Valorisation Sociale, will train residents how to launch their own businesses, including how to trial and market test business ideas and how to manage their finances.

The programme will operate along the South and East Coasts of England from Cornwall to Norfolk, and the North Coast of France from Brittany to Pas-de-Calais.

Programme aims

4,000 unemployed people will pass through the training over a three year period, creating up to 1,200 new businesses and helping a further 2000 into work.

All of the 38 UK and French neighbourhoods targeted in the project are characterised by above average unemployment. The project aims to tackle this issue by supporting a sustainable pipeline of small businesses in each area that will benefit local economies and households.

The project will create a number of community ambassador roles and a strong stakeholders network in each neighbourhood. These ambassadors will provide on-going support to micro-entrepreneurs and will continue to engage future participants, ensuring the long lasting legacy of the project.

The project will be co-funded by the Interreg France (Channel) England programme with a European Regional Development Fund contribution of £5.9 million.

Do I need a printed ticket?

No. This is an online event, all you'll need is the joining link that will be in your email at least 1 week prior to the event.

What should I have ready for the event?

a way to make notes, coffee/ tea, water, lunch and an open mind!

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

You can email your questions to or tweet us @PopUpBusiness!

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Everyone planning on attending the PopUp Business School online MUST have their own ticket. Upon entering the livestream, if we cannot match your name and email to a ticket, we will not allow you access until you have registered.

Is it too late for my friend to sign-up, even if the event has started?

Not at all. Bring them along! The more people attending a PopUp course, the bigger the network and the bigger the opportunities. Registration is open until the final day of the course so it's never too late to bring someone along.
