Get ready for an unforgettable adventure deep in the heart of Kerry’s wildest landscape — a weekend that blends challenge, craic, and pure mountain magic.
🏔️ Saturday 30th August – Carrauntoohil Summit Day
We’re going big. On Saturday 30th August we’ll take on Carrauntoohil, in the middle of MacGillycuddy’s Reek which stands tall as the highest peak in Ireland at 1039m!, a full-on day of grit, teamwork, and elation as we summit this mighty peak. You’ll earn every view — and there’ll be plenty — from jagged ridgelines to wide open skies. This is a bucket list hike that’ll leave you buzzing.
We will start are hike at Cronins yard on a gradual incline up to the 2 magnificent lakes at the foot of Carrauntouhil, Lough Gouragh and Lough Callee. We will then commence our ascent for the summit of Carrauntoohil via the Devils Ladder and we take the easier Zig Zag route back down

🥾 Sunday 31st August – Strickeen Wind Down
On Sunday, we ease off the throttle but keep the adventure going with a more relaxed climb up Strickeen. It’s a gentler route, but no less scenic — offering sweeping views back over the Reeks and the valleys below. Perfect for tired legs and full hearts. Starting off at the famous Kate Kearney's cottage we will start our ascent of Strickeen via the mountain path before hitting the open mountain where we will enjoy 360 views of the Reeks from the inside out.

🏕️ Basecamp: Cronin’s Yard
We’ll be based at the legendary Cronin’s Yard, right at the head of the trail. Choose between staying in cosy glamping pods or pitching up in the camping field. With hot showers, a café, and a true mountaineering vibe, it’s the perfect hub for a weekend like no other.
*We have limited POD accommodation reserved. Tents unlimited 🏕️
🔥 Saturday Night BBQ – Weather Permitting
After conquering Carrauntoohil, we’ll come together (weather permitting!) for a group barbecue at Cronin’s Yard. Great food, good vibes, and a chance to relax, swap stories, and celebrate what we’ve achieved together under the Kerry sky. Just bring along what you would like cooked and we will provide the BBQ and do the cooking. Alternativley - if the weather is not playing ball, we have the option of heading to Kate Kearneys for dinner and a pint.
Spaces are limited, and accommadation will fill up fast — so grab your boots, bring your spirit of adventure, and join us for a weekend that’ll stay with you long after the mountains fade into the rear-view.

Of course, there are lots of people that join our events on their own, it won’t be long until you are making new mountain mates! Plus we will get a Whatapp group started up so you can get to know your fellow adventurers before the trip
What you will need to wear:
Walking Boots
Walking trousers or leggings (no jeans/cotton)
Insulating layers such as fleece or wool and a jacket
What you will need to bring with you:
Small backpack
Waterproof jacket and trousers
Hat and gloves
Water and snacks
Are you ready for an adventure? You will get a guided hike with qualified and experienced mountain leaders who are outdoor first aid trained and will be carrying first aid and emergency equipment for your safety.

ACCOMMODATION & TRAVEL
**Accommodation payable direct to Cronins Yard
Make a weekend of it with us! We will be travelling down on Friday and staying on Friday and Saturday night. There is accomodation at Cronins Yard, the gateway to the mountains, if you would like to book, please get in touch with us. We have POD accomadation held for the group and there is also plenty of camping available. There is the option of staying Sunday night also.
Also if you would like to car share, please let us know and we can do our best to put you in touch with others in the same position. We will get a Whatsapp group started up to help faciltate the car share and accomadation sharing
PODS Cost: €70 per pod per night (2 bed ) €90 per pod per night (3 bed)
*Approx €30/35 each per night
Camping: €15 per person per night.
NO DOGS: Unfortunately dogs are not allowed on this hike at the request of the land owner.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
IF WE CANCEL OR POSTPONE an event for any reason, you will have the option of:
1. Completing your activity on a rescheduled date
2. Receive a full refund.
IF YOU CANCEL:
If you notify us with over 14 days notice of the event start date credit will be given that you can use against other events. Within 14 days notice of an event there is no credit given and we do not offer exchanges/transfer of your ticket onto another event.
Please note: Due to the nature of the events we provide and the environments these take place in, hikes will not be cancelled simply because of bad weather. However they will be cancelled by us if bad weather deems the event dangerous. In this instance we will get in touch to notify you. Hikes are subject to minimum group numbers being reached. In the event that this does not happen, you will be notified and offered a full refund, or the opportunity to be transferred onto a different event.
