About this event
Keston Common Wild Walk
Join Team WSLC as we explore the wilds of Keston Common. With an incredible range of habitats (mixed woodland, heath, bog, meadow, river and ponds!), it is an excellent place to wander and search for the delights of autumn. We'll hunt for fungi, bask in the changing colours and crunch through fallen leaves, acorns and beech nuts.
Wild Walks are free events that encourage people to get outside and explore local green spaces. We’ll walk through the site, stopping along the way to talk about what we’ve seen and get to know each other better. These are not rigid guided walks or foraging walks, but Wild South London trustees will be on hand to point out species, answer questions and encourage walk attendees to share their knowledge along the way too!
About us
Wild South London is a community group which aims to raise awareness of local biodiversity and promote conservation and appreciation of nature. Through walks, talks and hands-on workshops, the group will educate and inspire local people on topics such as sustainable foraging and identification of plants, animals and fungi. They will also show people how to record finds to contribute to local biodiversity data - all while promoting the positive health and wellbeing impacts of engaging with nature.
Aims of Wild Walks:
- To introduce people to green spaces in South London
- To promote the health and wellbeing benefits of interacting with nature
- To help people meet other like-minded individuals and learn from one another
