Kevin’s Last Lap - In aid of the Kevin Ash Fund
Event Information
Description
Kevin Ash was first and foremost a family man who adored his three daughters and wife, but he also happened to have a job he loved, as a motorcycle journalist.
Having written for MCN for twenty years or more and having a regular Daily Telegraph column as well as writing for publications across the world, he travelled far and wide to ride every type of bike you could imagine, to give his honest views to both industry and the public. Sadly on one of these occasions in January of this year he lost his life.
Last Lap
As a way of a remembering Kevin Ash his wife Caroline and MCN Road Tester Adam Child have come up with ‘Kevin’s Last Lap’, which will be held at Silverstone International Circuit on Friday August 9th 2013 from 4pm onwards. IMPORTANT - THE RIDER BRIEFING IS AT 3PM.
The evening will start off with the chance for you to ride your bike around the Silverstone International Circuit. There are 300 spaces available for the lap, and this will be decided on a first-come-first-served basis. This lap will not cost any extra to the ticket price of a £5 donation.
Auction
There will be an auction in aid of the Kevin Ash Fund (set up for his daughters’ education) which will be hosted by BBC F1 presenter Suzi Perry, a personal friend and colleague of Kevin who worked with him at the Telegraph.

- IMPORTANT - THE RIDER BRIEFING IS AT 3PM.
- All riders must wear either a complete one or two piece zip together leather suit and the zip must be from hip to hip.
- Leather gloves and boots must also be worn. It is not compulsory but we advise that a back protector is worn.
- Helmets and leathers must be worn and fastened securely at all times when on the circuit.
- No pillions are permitted on the Parade laps.
- You will also need to have a full unrestricted licence issued by the DVLA (overseas country equivalent) and must be 20 years or over.

Noise limits will be applied in accordance with our circuit regulations and will be monitored on a ride by basis at 102dB. Any bikes failing that will be black flagged and tested statically at 105dB.
After market silencers or race cans must have baffles fitted. Should a rider go out without baffles or a silencer fitted and it breaks the noise limit, we will not give a further opportunity to noise test the motorcycle. Offending motorcycles will not be allowed to continue and no refund will be given.
The onus is on YOU the rider to ensure your motorcycle is within the Silverstone circuit noise regulations. If you are concerned that your motorcycle with or without a baffle, may exceed the above limit then always request a test prior to going on track. We are happy to do this and will retest as many times as required to ensure your motorcycle is within the noise limit.
No children 16 or under are allowed in the garages or pit lane and must be supervised by an adult at all times .
