Key Stage 3: Creative Writing

This is a full day training event and launch of a major new resource that has been written to support the development of Creative Writing skills at Key Stage 3.

The intended audience is post-primary teachers of English.

Purpose of the Session

The event will be supported by an online forum containing more detailed support for different aspects of Creative Writing, including pedagogical approaches to support critical thinking and creativity.

The full day course will look at:

  • Planning the skills across the key stage
  • Using visual and audiovisual stimuli effectively
  • Integrating the skills of Writing with Reading and Talking and Listening
  • Developing Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities through Creative Writing
  • Active teaching pedagogies to build the skills pupils need at GCSE

What can you expect:

  • A range of resources to support innovative approaches to writing
  • Opportunities to share good practice
  • Ongoing opportunities for collaboration with other teachers
  • Opportunities for developing collaborative projects with other teachers and their pupils (Shared Education Signature Project)

Morning tea/coffee and a sandwich lunch will be provided.

Registration is now open and will close approximately 5 days prior to each event. Places are available on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis.
