Additional Information
*Peer Tutoring is a research-based reading intervention, supported by Queens' University, Belfast. It can be implemented over a maximum of 12 weeks, with Year 8 and Year 10 pupils.
The programme has been proven to impact positively on both the reading ages and the attitudes/ dispositions of pupils. While it is effective for all pupils, it is most successful for pupils at the lowest levels of attainment in reading. The evidence suggests that it is the reading ages of the older pupils where the greatest gains are made, improving reading ages for these pupils by up to 18 months during the 12 weeks of the programme (total class time commitment = 6 hours).
