Key Stage 3: Teacher Insight Visit to Almac Group Ltd
Key Stage 3 teachers are invited to attend a full day Teacher Insight Visit to Almac Group on Tuesday 06 February 2018.

Intended Audience
This session is open to Key Stage 3 teachers of the following subject areas: Careers and Science.
One teacher per subject area is invited to attend.

Context
The Almac Group is an established contract development and manufacturing organisation that provides an extensive range of integrated services to the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors globally. The services range from R&D, biomarker discovery development and commercialisation, API manufacture, formulation development, clinical trial supply, IXRS® technology (IVRS/IWRS) through to commercial-scale manufacture.

The international company is a privately owned organisation that has organically grown over almost 50 years and now employs in excess of 5,000 highly skilled personnel. Almac is headquartered in Craigavon, Northern Ireland with operations in the UK, Ireland, across the US (Pennsylvania, North Carolina and California) and in Asia (Singapore and Tokyo).

Almac realise the pivotal role that teachers play in capturing the imagination of young people and promoting STEM subjects to the students who will become their future workforce. As such, they are keen to invest in their future and shape the next workforce generation. They endeavour to increase the number of young people interested in studying STEM subjects and eventually pursuing a STEM based career.

Purpose of the session

  • To give teachers a valuable insight into and expand their knowledge of potential STEM based career options.
  • To provide teachers with a better understanding of how Science is used in an industrial setting.
  • To provide teachers with tours of Almac Global Headquarters in Craigavon.

During the Visit

  • There will be presentations from Almac employees on Working in Almac.
  • There will be tours of the manufacturing facilities and laboratories.
  • Lunch will be provided.

Book a Place
One teacher per subject area is invited to attend this session on 06 February 2018. The visit will take place between 9:30 am – 2:30 pm

Registration for this event is now open. Places are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis. Please note each teacher must register separately.

Teacher Release
Please note that teacher release of one full day per teacher is available. The code will be provided within the confirmation email.
