Methane’s per-molecule ‘greenhouse’ heating potential is 20 times that of CO2, and globally, methane hydrate exceeds twice the worldwide amount of carbon in all known fossil fuels on Earth. Hear how acoustic sensors - amongst the most promising candidate technologies to pinpoint this potentially troubling substance - can also locate reserves of gas in the seabed and detect gas leaks from seabed gas pipelines and carbon capture and storage installations.
