Keynsham Kindness Day
Mon 24 April 2017, 14:00 – 18:00 BST
We’d like to invite you to our Kindness Day and hope you might become one of our Kindness Ambassadors to help spread kindness throughout Keynsham and beyond!
Our event is supported by B&NES Supporting Communities and Wellbeing grant funding from Quartet Community Foundation and by Aquaterra who run Somerdale.
The event will feature videos by Leon Logothetis (author of The Kindness Diaries), Orly Wahba (from Life Vest Inside), Kindness Cafes and St Keyna children singing their Kindness song.
Sessions with Bath Dementia Action Alliance and the Samaritans.
We will have a compassion circle, Wellbeing session, interactive art and drama
From Kathmandu to Keynsham! We will be borrowing a wonderful idea from The Kindness Cafes, set up by Occupational Psychologist, Harpal Dhatt, who has run Kindness Cafes in Nepal and London. We’ll be using a ‘kindness menu’ to serve acts of kindness.
Birdgirl Mya-Rose Craig will also come along.
We are delighted that recently published local author Paris Brosnan will do a reading of her childrens’ book Billy Bee, Sugar Plums and honey.
Add to that inspirational videos about acts of kindness, songs from local band Verdisa and a mix of narratives about isolation in our modern world, with a rich variety of people present and we hope a huge amount of positive energy and goodwill can be generated which will be the stone being cast into the pond and the ripples of a wave of kindness can spread from there out into Keynsham and beyond. We hope Bath Spa students will be able to video the event which will then be edited and published online.
Our signature colour for the Kindness Project is yellow (a happy, friendly colour!) so it would be great if you could bring some yellow items along with you that we can use as prizes for our Tombola or simply to exchange in acts of kindness on the day.
We will hope to distribute kindness wristbands that we'd like people to pass on as widely as possible in acts of kindness. They will have our hashtag #kindness_connects which we hope we can crowdmap to chart our far we can send the kindness! A little kindness goes a long way!
We have set up a Localgiving appeal page https://localgiving.org/appeal/KAN-BeKind/ to help fund further parts of our Kindness Project: if you would like to donate or better still fundraise for us that would be great!
For guests who may have difficulty in travelling to the venue, we are delighted to have support from Keynsham District Dial-A-Ride who have kindly offered to help with transport for a small donation. Please either contact KDDAR on 01225 395321 and mention the Kindness Day or contact KAN via our facebook page or Twitter.
