Welcome to Kez Camps Black Camping Club! We are an ever-growing community of Black and brown nature lovers meeting annually for a romp in nature in the beautiful ocean-facing countryside of the Jurassic Coast, Weymouth, England.

Please be aware catering is not provided during Kez Camps events.

There are several food trucks on the campsite (details above).

If you plan to cook, we suggest visiting the local supermarket on arrival in Weymouth town centre or shopping in the well-stocked Farm shops on the campsite.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a refund?

No, tickets are non-refundable as all sales with the campsite are final, but are transferrable to a person of your choosing. Please notify us if you transfer your ticket to someone else.

Can I attend if I do not identify as Black?

Yes. Kez Camps prioritises the experiences of individuals of Black descent across the diaspora (African, Caribbean, Latin and South America). All allies are welcome and encouraged to attend and support, whilst being mindful of the space you take up and being conscious of your existing privilege.

Can I attend the camping event alone without feeling out of place?

Yes. Many campers come solo, and our event is designed for solo attendees to mingle. Specialist workshops and campfire socials provide ample chances to meet and make new friends. Join the activities, strike up conversations – you'll have a great time.

Is there a way to connect with fellow campers before the trip?

Whilst we don't have a dedicated group chat/forum, we stay active via email and Instagram. Closer to the trip date, we'll make posts on Instagram inviting campers to comment below if they want to connect with others before the event. Please always be safe when communicating online.

What's Kez Camps policy for antisocial behaviour?

We have a zero-tolerance policy for any kind of violence, prejudice, harassment, and intimidation. No racism, colourism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, ageism, fatphobia, misgendering or any other prejudice based on religion. You WILL be asked to leave immediately if you violate this.

Is there a payment plan/deposit scheme?

Whilst we do not offer payment plans, you can use PayPal Pay in 3 to purchase your ticket at checkout.

If I didn't drive, how do I get to/from the campsite?

Are there showers and toilets on site?

Yes, there are both compost and flushing toilets located across both campsites, along with showers in most fields. If you want to use a flushable toilet you need to walk over to the neighbouring campsite, Eweleaze: East Field, Entrance Field, Chicken Field and Corner Field.

Is there catering on site and when is it available?

There is a wide range of food offered from different outlets on the neighbouring campsite Eweleaze. The earliest opens at 7.30am and most close at 9pm. The Tent Bar offers food until 10 pm. Food stalls include: Bakery (serving bread, cakes and pastries)Pizzeria, Charcoal grill, Crepes, & Burgers.

How long does it take to walk from Shortlake campsite to Eweleaze campsite?

Approximately 12-15 minutes along the coastal path depending on your speed.

How can I travel to the event?

Driving is the most convenient option as you can make use of your vehicle to travel to external activities or to the shops. Public transport: Travelling via train or coach to Weymouth can be inexpensive if booked in advance. Taxi will be needed to travel from the station to the campsite.

Does the farm shop sell gas and firewood?

The shop sells most types of disposable gas canisters, as well as Camping Gas 904 & 907 refillable sizes and some Calor cylinders: 4.5kg, 7kg, 15kg subject to availability. They also sell firewood, kindling and BBQs.

Is there anywhere to freeze ice packs?

There is an ice pack exchange in the shop (chargeable). Note that this is an exchange service, so you won’t get your own ice packs back. Cost is 60p/block for the standard 400g size, or about £1.50/kg. There is normally ice for sale in the shop as well.

Can I take part in the activities at Eweleaze farm even though we are staying at Shortlake?

Yes, you are welcome to use the facilities and activities at Eweleaze. You can access Eweleaze by walking along the coastal path which would take approximately 12-15 minutes. We don’t recommend driving as the steep gravel road can be blocked by traffic.

Is there a security and medical team?

Yes, the campsite has both an onsite medical and security team, run by Bluestone Security. They are available 24/7.

How do I find Kez Camps exact pitch spot once I arrive at the campsite?

Shortlake Farm campsite consists of 4 fields interlinked by gates. You can drive through slowly to find a free pitch. Contact us on the number provided once you arrive and we will guide you to the exact pitch site we chose on the day. Pitches are not allocated/reserved.

Do the camp pitches have electricity?

None of the pitches have electric hook-up.

Is the beach accessible from the campsite?

Yes, there is access to the private beach via the end field and the coastal path. The steps down to the beach are located at the bottom of Beach Field. Please note that there is no lifeguard present on the beach and there are steep steps to climb down to the beach.

What facilities/activities are there on site?

Is there anywhere to wash clothes?

There is a laundry service near to reception at Eweleaze campsite which does a service wash and dry. Note at busy times there can be a delay of 24 hours or more as we have to give priority to our bell tent bedding.

What shops are nearby?

Preston - 2.5km walk - Spar, Post Office, Appleby's / Overcombe Corner - 3km towards Weymouth, on the roundabout - Charlbury Wine Store, Chemist / Littlemoor - 6km - Co-op, Chemist, Littlemoor Hardware, McColl's / Dorchester - 9km, outskirts of Weymouth - Morrisons, Lidl, Tesco Express

Is there anywhere to charge a phone?

Yes, a phone charging service is offered at the farm shops. The cost is £1.75 per item, and they can supply chargers for most phones. You are advised to bring your own charger for higher-powered items such as iPads, laptops, battery packs etc.

What are the farm shops opening hours?

The Shortlake and Eweleaze farm shops open from 8am – 9pm Mon - Sun. Opening hours may differ please inquire at the shop on arrival.

Where can I dispose of rubbish & recycle?

Please leave the campsite as you would like to find it and collect all waste you generate during your stay and dispose in designated bin areas on the campsite. Bring bin bags with you to throw away waste.

Is there WIFI on site?

There is access to free Wi-Fi in the Yard Coffee Shop and surrounding area (wireless password is ‘password’).

Can I bring a van?

Small VW-style vans are welcome on the campsite, along with trailers, trailer-tents, and boats. Unfortunately, caravans or motorhomes are not permitted. (Vans should have the outline of a standard Luton van/smaller, and a motorhome/caravan having bodywork specifically built to make it a motorhome.)

Can I charge an electric car onsite?

Yes, there is limited car charging available on the neighbouring site, Eweleaze. They can charge only 2 cars at a time, between the hours of 8pm and 8am. Booking required. Alternatively, free charging can be found in Weymouth town centre.
