KiCAD EDA Schematic & PCB Workshop
Wed 22 March 2017, 19:00 – 21:00 GMT
KiCAD is one of the most comprehesive Open Source Electronics Design Automation Suite. This workshop will teach you how to take your own hand drawn schematics and put them into KiCAD, model the component footprints and put it all together onto your own Printed Circuit Board (PCB). Along the way I will teach you a few tips and tricks, how I have used KiCAD in the past and some suppliers I have used to get PCB's made (or how you could make these PCB's yourself!).
Please make sure you bring your own laptop (Linux, Windows, Mac versions available) and install KiCAD 4.0.4 beforehand (makes the workshop go that little bit faster).
The project for the day will involve building our own Arduino, so basic knowledge on what an Arduino is will help, but don't worry if you don't. There is still loads to learn about PCB design in general.
The event will finish at 21:00, but I intend on hanging around afterwards if anyone has any questions or wants to try their own thing.
