Kid Kin at The Library, Oxford
Thu 24 November 2016, 19:30 – 22:30 GMT
Kid Kin is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Peter Lloyd. After moving to Oxford from Liverpool in 2013 he released his debut album, a collection of home demos, which gained positive press and airplay on BBC 6Music and BBC Oxford, with the latter selecting him to make his live debut at their annual showcase in conjunction with Oxford Contemporary Music. A string of shows followed, including support slots for Ulrich Schnauss, Public Service Broadcasting, and Californian loop-masters El Ten Eleven, showcasing Lloyd's one-man show of guitar, electronics and visuals.
Kid Kin's second release, Holy Youth EP, offered a snapshot of Lloyd's developing live sound - an atmospheric blend of precise electronica and vast guitar-driven soundscapes.
"This massively talented musician orchestrates and gels amazing diverse music genre elements & atmospheres." - forksterocks
"deafening washes of guitar and synth noise that test the normal expectations and definition of the word ambient, taking over every available molecule of airspace in the room in a way that can be as confrontational as it is calming." - Nightshift Mag
"little sparkles of sound, waves of effect laden guitars and throbs of percussion shimmying in a quite sensual way. It is rather beautiful and hypnotic, the sort of thing to drift away with perfectly." - Ocelot Mag

“I can honestly say that I have never been un-expectedly blown away so much by the next song I heard which started a set by a new duo called Wednesday Wolves…. The haunting melodies that oozed from this unassuming duo just echoed around the 12 Bar Club like rowsing ancient hymnes”
– Music Earth Rise 2014
“…Wednesday’s Wolves are just awesomely spellbinding. Beautiful harmonies, beautiful instrument playing that is guaranteed to take you to a land where the mist roll through an ancient forest”
– Seahorse Promotions 2014
“…Chrissy and Ysabelle each have vocal textures reminiscent of a mix of Joan Baez and Natalie Merchant, and together are able to create some incredible harmonies”
- Top Five Records 2014
